NEW YORK, January 28, 2014 - International Securities Exchange Holdings, Inc. (ISE Holdings) today announced that the SEC has approved listing options on the Nations VolDex® Index (ticker: VOLI). The Nations VolDex measures implied volatility by focusing on at-the-money options while also offering an alternative gauge of volatility. ISE Holdings' two options exchanges, ISE and ISE Gemini, are the first options exchanges to enter into a licensing agreement with NationsShares® to list options on the Nations VolDex. The exchanges plan to list options on VolDex later this year.
"We are grateful that the SEC has approved options trading on the Nations VolDex," said Boris Ilyevsky, Managing Director, ISE and ISE Gemini. "NationsShares continues to be a strong partner in the index derivatives and volatility space, and we are eager to see the product launch on our exchanges later this year."
"NationsShares' VolDex provides an alternative in the volatility space, a market that hasn't seen an advance or new entrant in many years, and we're confident the market will agree that VolDex is a significant advance," said Scott Nations, president of NationsShares. "We're excited to work with ISE and ISE Gemini because they are the most innovative options exchanges in the world."
In addition to its agreement to license options, NationsShares will evaluate opportunities to license the index as the basis for other exchange-traded products, futures, and ETFs, and will continue to work with ISE ETF Ventures to explore opportunities for greater collaboration in this area.
