a recap from Phoenix
Over 500 options industry participants gathered together at the J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Arizona, for the 28th Annual Options Industry Conference from April 29 – May 1. This year, the conference was organized by ISE and co-hosted by all of the options exchanges and The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC). With a record number of sponsors and exhibitors, the event was one of the most successful in conference history.
This annual conference provides an important opportunity for exchange leaders and their customers to exchange thoughts on the important issues confronting the options industry. Representatives from the eight U.S. options exchanges, the options industry’s largest broker-dealer participants, and a variety of technology vendors and trading solutions providers were in attendance.
The keynote speeches and panel discussions addressed the most significant issues confronting the industry today. Discussion topics ranged from the SEC’s recent proposal to cap access fees in options at $.30 per contract, to regulatory developments and their impact on the industry, to innovation and competition among exchanges. Keynote speaker Malcolm Gladwell, author of three New York Times bestsellers, brought a bit of star-power to the event with his discussion on the challenges of information overload. Audio recordings of the panels and keynote speeches are exclusively available on the Options Insider Radio at http://www.theoptionsinsider.com.
